Thornton has been awarded Fairtrade Village status and received its official certification at a ceremony in South Square this afternoon.
Jean Ellis, chair of Thornton Community Partnership, accepted the Fairtrade certificate from Karen Palframan, chair of Fairtrade Bradford, who was accompanied by former chair Barbara Judd, who was closely involved with Thornton's campaign.
We are running bunting-making workshops in the shop which will continue until Tuesday next week. Take a few minutes to get involved with this record breaking attempt!
The Keelham stable of Fairtrade goods is constantly growing. We also have a long-held ethos of supporting local suppliers, which ties in with what Fairtrade is all about - treating people right, working towards better prices for suppliers, better working conditions for employees, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world.
